Doctor killed in mishap

A 55-year-old doctor from Bangalore was killed on the spot in an accident near Siddapura, on the bypass road of NH 206, in Bhadravathi on Thursday.

Police have identified the deceased as Dr Sunil, Medical Director of the Srishti Hospital in Bangalore.

The incident took place when Sunil who was driving the vehicle reportedly rammed a tree after hitting a bike coming from the wrong direction.

His wife Anupama, daughter Sowmya sustained injuries and are being treated at a hospital in Shimoga. The motorcyclist, Thamma- nna, also sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment in a hospital. Sunil along with his family was on his way to Kollur. The last rites of Sunil will be performed in Bangalore on Friday.
