Rohtagi tipped to be next AG

Last Updated 26 May 2014, 20:27 IST

Senior advocate Mukul Rohtagi is tipped to be the next attorney general (AG) of India, replacing G E Vahanvati, said sources.

With Narendra Modi sworn in as prime minister, the team of law officers representing the Union government is certain to be replaced, as these posts are political appointments.

When contacted, Rohtagi, who had earlier served as Additional Solicitor General under the previous NDA regime, said he had so far not received any official confirmation.

Vahanvati’s term expires on June 6.
