The vacation bench of the High Court on Thursday granted a stay on the Chief Secretary’s order directing BBMP to hand over 24 acres back to the Gandhi Krishi Vignan Kendra.
Hearing a petition filed by BBMP challenging the Chief Secretary’s order, Justice Mohan Shantana Goudar granted stay on the order. In 2007, as per the Revised Master Plan 2015, it was decided to construct a road connecting Yeshwantpur to Yelahanka and implement BBMP’s comprehensive development plan.
However, the University of Agriculture Sciences on the GKVK campus had objected to the plan stating the it would affect research work inside the campus. However, BBMP had invested Rs 15 crore and constructed a 3.9-km road inside GKVK.
Former vice-chancellors of UAS had filed a PIL, challenging the construction of the road. When the case was still pending, BBMP completed the construction and opened the road for the public.
