Power cuts seem to be the order in parts of K R Puram enroute to Whitefield.

Residents of Thambuchetty Palya, Medhalli, Bhatrahalli and other areas near K R Puram complain about unscheduled power cuts, while Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) remains tight lipped about it.

“We are facing regular power cuts. Sometimes we have six to seven power cuts a day,” a resident said.

“On Tuesday, there was no power for 12 hours. Sometimes power goes off at 2 am and restored only in the morning,” a resident of Medhalli said.

Mathew, who is suffering from cancer, said when the power problem is brought to the notice of Bescom, they say there is no update or are evasive saying there is feeder problem.

“Every time we call up Bescom number 22873333, they give us assurances but there is no response,” he said.

Mathew said the problem has been persisting for the last one year.  “We have complained to chief engineer explaining about the problem. He replied saying he will get back to us.

However, there has been no action. We reminded him again yesterday. He said they are installing electric poles and the power cut will be temporary.”

Every time residents complain about power cuts, Bescom sends an SMS with a complaint number as acknowledgement. But there is no action in this regard, he added.

Managing Director Pankaj Kumar Pandey said he will look into the matter and ensure that power problem is resolved.
