CM rules out revamping of council of ministers

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday ruled out revamping the council of ministers, but said that steps will soon be taken to fill up the existing vacancies.

Participating in an interaction with the media, he said no discussion has taken place on creating a post of deputy chief minister. “Such discussions, if happen, will be held with the party high command and not on streets. So far, nothing of that sort has happened,” he stated.

It was speculated in political circles that the chief minister would go in for a revamp of his council of ministers following the Congress’ poor show in the recently-held parliamentary elections. Many of the ministers have come under criticism for not performing up to the mark. Siddaramaiah too has undertaken an exercise to review all the departments.

There is a long list of aspirants for ministerial berths in the ruling Congress. KPCC president G Parameshwara is among them. He has been lobbying to get the deputy chief minister’s post after becoming an MLC. Currently, there are three vacancies in the council of ministers.
