Man dies in accident

A 38-year-old man was killed in a road accident on the flyover near Garvebavipalya under the Madiwala traffic police limits in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the police, Pankaj Dai, an accounts manager with a private company in Attibele, was returning to his house at Chandapura around 1 am when a speeding car rammed his bike. He fell down and came under the wheels of the car and died instantly, the police said.

Passersby caught the car driver and handed him over to the police.

Woman robbed

Ramya Sherali, 30, was threatened by three miscreants with a dagger after barging into her house in Basaveshwaranagar and made away with valuables and cash on Wednesday afternoon.

Sherali has lost a gold chain weighing 6 gm, LED TV, mobile phone and Rs 40,000, police said.

She had returned home at 2 pm after completing formalities of her child’s school admission. As she opened the house door, three unidentified men barged in and locked the house from within.

Threatening her that they would kill her if she screamed, they asked her to hand over cash and valuables.

Ramya immediately informed her husband, who was away at work.

He, in turn, called the police, who rushed to collect clues about the miscreants.
