Teen molested by brother-in-law

 A teenager was molested by her brother-in-law and his two brothers after being drugged at her nephew’s birthday party in north Delhi’s Chandni Chowk. 

Objectionable photographs of the victim were also taken to blackmail her, said the police on Saturday.

The victim approached the local police after the accused, who married her elder sister in December 2011, sent the photographs to her elder brother. 

“We have arrested the accused, Shiv Kumar, on the basis of her complaint, and are on the lookout for his brothers, Uma Shankar and Ram Shankar,” said a police officer.

The incident took place when the girl, who hails from Uttarakhand, was visiting Shiv and her sister in Chandni Chowk in December 2013.

“It was their son’s first birthday, and the girl was attending a party they had thrown for him. Shiv offered her a soft drink apparently laced with sedatives,” said the officer.

She lost consciousness, after which Shiv and his brothers allegedly took turns to molest her. When she woke up, Shiv showed her the objectionable pictures and threatened to make them public if she revealed the incident.

In her complaint, the victim also alleged that Shiv had threatened to kill her elder sister and their son if she dared mention anything about the incident to anyone.

Nevertheless, he sent the pictures to her elder brother, who then asked her about the incident and decided to intervene by taking her to Kotwali police station to lodge a formal complaint.

“Shiv was arrested soon after; however his brothers are absconding. Teams have been formed to track and arrest them at the earliest,” said the officer.

In a separate incident, a 12-year-old girl was raped by her neighbour in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri. The police said the incident took place on Tuesday when the victim was playing outside her house. However, the police were informed on Friday. 

“The girl studies in class VI at a nearby government school. The accused had lured her with sweets to his house and raped her,” said another police officer.
