Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday said that he had no plans to appoint retired IPS officer Kempaiah as his security adviser.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function organised to observe Anti-Child Labour Day, he even said that there was no proposal for appointing the security adviser.

The chief minister is understood to have backtracked on the move, following opposition from his own partymen. Many senior ministers and Congress MLAs were said to be against the move.

Many of the party MLAs had in the past raised objections to the alleged interference of the retired officer in the functioning of the Police department.
