The daughter of a retired High Court judge hanged herself at her home in RT Nagar early on Sunday morning, in what is suspected to be a suicide driven by her frustration at not being able to cope with renal failure and the treatment.

Vijayalakshmi M Patil, 45, the daughter of retired High Court judge, the late M S Patil, had been on dialysis for the last few months after her kidneys failed to work properly. But she found it increasingly difficult to cope with the disease and the treatment, and reportedly ended her life.

Her suicide came to light around 7 am on Sunday when her mother Saroja went into her bedroom with a cup of coffee only to find her hanging from a ceiling fan. She immediately called the police.

Vijayalakshmi had been depressed after her father died about six months ago.Her problem was aggravated by the fact that her health did not improve as she had expected.
