The Budget Session of Parliament is likely to be convened from July 7 and may go on till July 31.

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday discussed the dates of the first Budget session of the Narendra Modi government.

During the first week of the session, the pre-budget Economic Survey, the Railway Budget and the General Budget are expected to be presented in Parliament, sources said.

Both the budgets have to be cleared before July-end as the Votes-on Account taken before Lok Sabha elections will expire by July-end.

“We discussed about when should the Budget session be held ...we have discussed the dates. But there is a modality of finalisation of the dates. Once those modalities are complete, we’ll convey to you,” Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.
