Eleven people, including seven women, were killed and 30 others injured in a head-on collision between a tractor and a tipper truck near Hulkoti in the district on Thursday.
The victims travelling by the tractor were all from Siddanakoppa village in Yelaburga taluk of Koppal district and were returning from a family function in Umachagi in Kundagol taluk of Dharwad district.
Ten of the injured, including children, are critical and are being treated at the district hospital here. A total of 45 people were travelling by the tractor when the accident occurred.
Some of the deceased have been identified as Eeravva Phakirappa Katti (55), Parvatevva Binnal (60), Siddamma Basappa Mangoli (70), Shantavva, Devappa Parasappa, Shivagangavva Prakash Revanake (30), Manjunath Muttal (25) and Shantavva Kalakappa Managoli (35).
