JOIN USAn autorickshaw driver was allegedly abducted by an auto consultant and financier from Attiguppe near RPC Layout on Tuesday night.
However, he was dropped off safely near the Malleswaram railway station on Wednesday evening.
According to the police, Mahesh, 32, a resident of Kamalanagar near Basaveshwaranagar, was returning home when the suspects waylaid him near Attiguppe, bundled him into their vehicle and sped away.
Mahesh had borrowed around Rs 7 lakh from Kumar alias ‘Finance’ Kumar, a resident of Pategarapalya. But Mahesh neither paid the monthly interest nor returned the loan amount to Kumar, the police said.
Abduction
An enraged Kumar asked Mahesh to meet him near Attiguppe to discuss some issues on Tuesday night. Mahesh informed his wife and went to meet Kumar, who, along with his associates, abducted him, said the police.
When Mahesh did not return home till Wednesday morning, his wife Meena, 29, lodged a complaint with the Chandra Layout police.
The police contacted Kumar on his mobile phone and advised him to bring back Mahesh safely. Around 7.30 pm on Wednesday, Kumar dropped Mahesh in Malleswaram and vanished.
The police have formed a special team to nab him and his associates.
Man killed in bike crash
A 33-year-old man was killed on the spot when he crashed his two-wheeler into a barricade near Singasandra on Hosur Road on Wednesday night, the police said.
Anirban, who worked for a private company in Marathahalli, was returning to his home in JP Nagar when he lost control over the bike around 8.30 pm and crashed it into the barricade. He suffered grievous head injuries and died instantly, the police said.
The deceased was found wearing a half helmet.
“Had he worn a full helmet, he might have survived as he suffered only head injuries and there was no major wound on other parts of his body,” an officer at the Electronics City traffic police station said.
