Stray dog kills infant after entering in house

In a bizarre incident, a two-month-old baby was mauled to death by a stray dog in Central Delhi after the canine entered the house and bit her all over her body.

According to the police, the incident took place in Nabi Karim area here at around 9 PM yesterday when the infant was sleeping on a bed in the house while her mother had gone out to buy vegetables.

The dog entered the house on the third floor of the building and attacked the hapless baby girl, Shagun, they said.

The mother of the infant had put her to sleep and switched on the cooler and she had gone out to buy some vegetables. The dog later entered the house and bit the baby all over her body, the police said.

The dog had also attacked a neighbour, who was climbing the staircase soon after the incident, but he somehow managed to escape.

Police said when the woman returned home, she saw her child lying in a pool of blood with pieces of flesh all around and the locals and police were immediately informed.

By the time the police reached the spot, the locals had beaten the dog to death.

The child was taken to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead by the doctors and the body was handed over to her family members after post mortem examination was done.

According to the locals and neighbours, the dog was insane and used to behaved abnormally.

"On earlier occasions also the dog had eaten up rats and chickens. He had also attacked a rabbit. On Thursday also the canine scratched a boy named Irshad who was offering prayers in the morning.

"Despite several complaints no one helped and a life has been lost due to this," a resident of the area said.

No case has been registered so far. The body of the dog has been sent for a post mortem examination.
