Echoes of the season

The latest collection of Bata is all about aspirational and contemporary styles. The line is a combination of styles and different designs encompassing an eclectic mix of loafers, flats, heels, shoes, sneakers and floaters. 

Armed with the right attitude

According to Sumit Kumar, vice-president, marketing and customer service, Bata India, “To cater to the diverse needs of the fast growing and evolving consumer base, Bata has been relentlessly working on its product offerings.

The new Spring Summer ’14 collection is contemporary, stylish, trendy and aspirational and targets the sensibilities of the young generation. We have a fantastic range of products that will appeal not only to our loyal customers but also to a wider audience. We intend to communicate the brand as aspirational and yet comfortable.”The new collection launched at the stores has a contemporary collection of footwear, bags and accessories for both men and women. 

The wide range for men’s footwear includes boat shoes, oxfords, dress boots, loafers, brogues and derby shoes. The women’s category will be a collection of high heels, clogs, mules, sandals, wedges, pumps and peep toes. The wide selection of accessories includes bags, belts, and scarves that add a dash of style to life.

Ladies can choose from a range of strong and bold colours like neons, greens and corals. The collection consists of detailed work like cut-work, gold trims, metal fronts and golden shimmer tips. The men’s collection sees soft colours showcasing a contemporary theme in its offering. 

The must-haves for the season are the driver’s collection, which is available in different colours with a unique construct of shoe soles and uppers. The casual shoe range highlights shoes in different colours and materials like suede, textured print and leather. 

The stores also have the latest monsoon collection, which is full of colourful products, prints and new designs apart from the waterproof footwear, accessories and for the first time, umbrellas for men and women. 

One of the highlights is the introduction of the new line of umbrellas under the name ‘BATA & I’. Available in two sizes and vibrant colours in pink, red and blue, they are bound to grab your attention this season and add colour to your outfit.

Anu Chinapa, a model and actress, sported a brown and blue bag from Marie Claire, blue belt and blue ballerinas.  

Punchline: “These accessories are very classy and can be mixed and matched easily.” 

Price: Bag (Rs 1,499), shoes (Rs 1,499) and belt (Rs 499).

Vaishnavi, a second-year BCom student of Sindhi College, chose a pair of sea green shoes and bag from Marie Claire that matched the sea green top she wore. 
Punchline: “This is a very attractive colour and looks good both in summer and winter.” 

Price: Sea green bag (Rs 3,299) and black ballerina heels (Rs 1,699).

Kavya, a second-year BCom student of Seshadripuram College, sported a cream bag from Hush Puppy along with heels of the same colour from Naturaliser. 

Punchline: “This is a very attractive colour and looks good in both summer and winter.” 

Price: Bag (Rs 3,699) and shoes (Rs 2,999). 

Ekta, a second-year engineering student of SVCE who is also a part-time model and actress, sported a bright yellow summery Marie Claire bag, silver belt and yellow flats.

Punchline: “These accessories are very classy and can be mixed and matched easily.” 

Price: Bag (Rs 2,999), shoes (Rs 999) and belt (Rs 499).

Deepthi, a BBM student of MS Ramaiah Degree College, sported an orange Marie Claire bag and peep toe wedges from Naturaliser, which went well with her white top and black pants. 

Punchline: “The slippers are sober while the orange bag provides a good contrast to the entire look.”

Price: Orange bag (Rs 2,999) and wedges (Rs 4,999).


Sushmita, a second-year BCom student of Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College, posed with a beige Marie Claire bag and black and gold heels from Marlena. It complemented the cute little black dress she wore.
Punchline: “I like sober colours and beige is one such colour while black is the colour of intelligence.”

Price: Beige bag (Rs 2,999) and black ballerina heels (Rs 2,999).
