Agri varsity agrees to hand over 3-acre land to CMC

With this, there is a ray of hope and the long pending demands of the people to shift private bus stand will be realised soon. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa had convened a meeting in this regard on August 18. The Agriculture University’s 336th academic council meeting has decided to hand over Agriculture Research Centre’s  three acre land in survey number 405/2 to CMC for the construction of private bus stand. Accordingly, Agriculture University Registrar Chikkaveeraiah has passed an official order on December 9, directing Deputy Commissioner to deploy an officer to acquire three acres land in survey number 405/2. Agriculture University has deployed Ponnampet Forest College Dean to hand over the land. Owing to the pressure from elected representatives, Agriculture University has finally agreed to hand over the land. Now the district administration has to acquire the land and then start the process of private bus stand.

For the private bus stand, Rs 2.5 crore has been earmarked by the CMC under Chief Minister’s special package. Under KMRP project, Rs 1.6 crore had been earmarked for the project. However, as the Agriculture University failed to hand over the land for the proposed project, the money was used for other purpose. The long pending demand of the people of Madikeri will be fulfilled by the shifting of the private bus stand. The present private bus stand is totally not approachable.

At present, with the concreting of road from private bus stand to Major Mangerira Muthanna Circle, the bus stand has been temporarily shifted to APMC maidan. The concreting of main road has already been completed. CMC has been decided to inaugurate the road at the earliest.
