The fake notes look exactly like the original currencies. Except series number, all other features of the original currency-- security thread, latent image, identification mark, fluorescence and optically variable ink -- look more natural on these fake notes than on the original notes.

The police have recovered 100 notes of Rs 500 denomination from the accused. The accused have been identified as Shameer Abdulbashir Byadagi (37), of Tabib Land in Hubli, Basavaraj Chennappa Benni (29), of Padadayyahakkal in Hubli, Ismail Tajuddin Bhatatti (32), of Gausiyan town in Hubli and Abubakkar Abbu Byari (41), of Kammaradi in Koppa district.

Two of the accused -- Shameer and Abubakkar -- are already convicted in two separate murder cases and they were released from the jail recently on a parole.
Informing this to the mediapersons here, Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar said, unlike earlier rackets, this network had used the most sophisticated methods to make fake notes that looked exactly like genuine currencies. It was very difficult for even an educated and experienced person to suspect these notes. The quality of paper, colour combination and minute details of all security features were worked out very carefully by the accused.

Prima facia evidences indicated that the racket had a wide network and further investigation would help find out their activities and who all are involved in the case.
Answering to a question whether the racket had any inter-state links, Auradkar said it was premature to say anything conclusively. However, a thorough investigation was on and the police would dig deep to know its roots. He also said that the case would be handed over to the Cops of Detectives (CoD), if it was found that the racket had inter-state gangs. The gang was arrested by PI Ravindar Shirur, PSIs M R Chennannavar and Sameer Mulla, under the guidance of DCP (Law and Order) Chandiram Singh.
