<p>Doctors from the State were felicitated for their dedication on National Doctors’ Day on Tuesday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>In an event that was organised by the Indian Science Monitor, four doctors were given Dr B C Roy memorial awards for their extraordinary contribution to the field.<br /><br /> Justice N Santosh Hegde, who presented the awards, said the field of health, medicine and education needed more attention. <br /><br />Expressing his concern over the poor condition of government hospitals in the State, the former Lokayukta said the government must allocate more budget to both education and medical fields.<br /><br />Dr Shivprasad Reddy, dean and director, Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, was awarded for his contribution in the field of ophthalmology, Dr T S Manohar, Medical Superintendent, Adichunchunagiri Institute of Medical Science, for his contribution in the field of medical education and rural medical care, Dr M Ramesh Makam for his contribution in the field of bariatrics surgery and Dr T H Anjanappa, Dean and Principal, Sambhram Institute of Medical Science and Research, KGF, for his contribution in the field of gastroenterology. <br /><br />Rajmahal Vilas Hospital, Bangalore was awarded for its contribution in the field of health care in the institutes category.<br /><br /></p>
