Despite the nationwide outrage, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Wednesday decided to forgive MP Tapas Paul for his comments instigating party workers to ''rape'' Communist Party of India-Marxist women workers, while accepting his unconditional apology.
The MP wrote a letter addressing the party leadership and the media expressing his apology on Tuesday.
The decision to forgive Paul was taken at a meeting of TMC MPs called by party chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
