African national falls to death from terrace

A 28-year-old South African national fell to his death from the terrace of the three-storey building in Kothanur on Sunday night.

According to police Obi Nthsbe, who hailed from Johannesburg, South Africa, was staying in the building with his roommates. Around 11 pm he went to the terrace and attempted to sit on a parapet wall of short height. It is suspected that he lost balance and fell to the ground.

The incident came to light after other tenants in the building heard a thud and came out. Obi, who was lying in a pool of blood, was shifted to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead, police added.

However, police said that they were investigating the whole episode and questioning Obi’s friends and other tenants in the building. He had come to the City a few days ago on a business visa. Kothanur police have registered a case.

Two killed in accidents

Two men were killed in separate road accidents in Banaswadi and Hebbal traffic police limits respectively.

Senthil Kumar, 30, a resident of Kammanahalli, who was on his bicycle, was mowed down by a hit-and-run vehicle near Geddalahalli. Kumar, a native of Tamil Nadu, was working as a data entry operator with a private company. Passersby who noticed a bleeding Kumar, rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead, Banaswadi police said. 

In the other accident, Vishnu Adhikari, 51, a resident of Sarjapur, who was riding his bike towards Hebbal Circle was mowed down by a speeding oil tanker. A native of Nepal, he was a swimming pool maintenance contractor. Upon information, police seized the vehicle and arrested its driver, Mahabaleshwar.
