SI manhandled for issuing parking ticket to violater

A traffic sub-inspector was manhandled by a group of men led by a local politician near Nehru Circle in Seshdripuram on Thursday evening when he asked a car driver to pay fine for violating parking norms.

According to police, sub-inspector T R Srinivas asked the car driver to pay the fine as it was parked in no parking zone and on a pavement.

The driver refused to pay and called up Shivaswamy Gowda, who claimed himself to be a local politician. Gowda came along with his associates and manhandled the sub-inspector.

“They got into a verbal duel with the SI and during the melee, the police official was manhandled. Srinivas went to Seshadripuram police station and lodged a complaint against Gowda and seven others,” a police source said.

While the police official was on duty, a few passersby complained to him about a car parked in no parking zone.

The SI along with a homeguard went and checked the vehicle and found no one inside the car.

He tried tracing the owner but in vain. After sometime, he noticed the driver taking out the car. The SI approached the driver and asked him to pay a fine, police said.

The driver spoke rudely before calling up Shivaswamy Gowda, who came along with his associates.

The sub-inspector had reportedly booked the drivers of Social Welfare Minster H Anjaneya and Women and Child Development Minister Umashree, for not wearing seat belt and using mobile phone while driving.

A police source said: “Immediately after the ministers’ cars were stopped for violating traffic rule on July 17, Srinivas was shifted to the investigation wing on July 19.He reported to the investigation wing on July 21. The reason for him being shifted is not known. On Thursday evening, after completing his investigation, he went near Nehru Circle and was checking vehicles for flouting traffic rules.”

Recently, Srinivas was involved in flagging down two high-end cars, which were speeding on Race Course Road, after which the drivers of the luxury cars claimed that they were relatives of top politicians.

Housewife robbed

An unidentified man robbed a homemaker of gold valuables at her residence in Yelahanka on Friday morning.

According to police, Veena was cleaning her portico, while an unidentified man approached her enquiring about an address.

While Veena was trying to locate the address, the miscreant snatched away her gold chain and pair of ear studs and sped away with the accomplice on a two-wheeler.

The victim, who was profusely bleeding from her ears, was rushed to a nearby hospital.
A case has been registered in Yelahanka police station.
