Road transport services between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu were severely hit on Thursday due to the bandh in Bangalore.
With pro-Kannada outfits calling for a bandh, buses, lorries and taxis were stopped at Hosur to prevent any untoward incident.
Both Tamil Nadu government and private operators did not ply buses between Hosur and Bangalore on Thursday morning, leaving more than 5,000 passengers from various parts of Tamil Nadu stranded at the Hosur bus stand. Most of the travellers were unaware of the bandh. Reports said some of them were fleeced while travelling from Hosur to Bangalore by private cabs with Karnataka registration.
In Bangalore, BMTC officials said that 10-15 per cent less buses plied as there were no commuters. Many of the buses that plied were also running almost empty.
