Armed men rob Rs 2.3 lakh in cash

 Two miscreants attacked a gas agency owner with lethal weapons and robbed him of Rs 2.30 lakh in cash, late on Saturday night in Commercial Street police limits.

The incident occurred at 11.30 pm near Dobhighat on Kamaraja Road Junction, when the victim Akhil Gowda, who runs a gas agency on Armstrong Road, was returning home on his two-wheeler after collecting the day’s earnings that were kept in a bag, said the police. The suspects, who came in a two-wheeler accosted Gowda and asked him to hand over the bag, but he refused to do so, the police added.

The miscreants then thrashed him, threatened him by brandishing lethal weapons, and snatched the bag and fled, the police said. 

They were aged between 25 and 30 years and were speaking in Kannada and Hindi, said the police. Gowda was treated at Bowring Hospital for injuries he sustained in the attack.
