The district administration has done all preparations for a hassle-free counting. About 75 persons will be involving in counting in 10 tables. Each table will get 150 ballots for counting.

Only those with prior permission can enter the counting centre. The district administration has declared the premises of the STJ College prohibited area, and has banned all victory celebrations there.

The district had recorded 99.5 per cent polling on Friday. The candidates Gayathri Shanthegowda (Congress) and M S Bhoje Gowda (BJP) are anticipating their victory. Who will be lucky? One has to wait for some more hours for the answer.

Repolling was conducted in the ZP premises booth on Sunday in the backdrop of violation of election regulations by Zilla Panchayat President and the Congress candidate for the Council polls Gayathri Shanthegowda.

The polling that began at 8 am continued in a slow pace. It ended by 4 pm with 34 ZP members casting their votes for the second time. Both the candidates welcomed the voters standing at the entrance of the ZP till the end. They tried to woo the voters till the last moment.

Deputy Commissioner R Narayanaswamy had ordered repolling after a photograph was published in Deccan Herald showing Gayathri Shanthegowda violating the election regulations.

MLA M P Kumaraswamy too had complained to the DC in this regard and demanded repolling.
