Two held for 'objectionable' Facebook post on MP

Andhra Pradesh Police today arrested two persons, including an MBA student, for allegedly creating and posting on a social networking site political cartoons with vulgar comments against YSRCP MP from Araku, K Geetha, police said.

Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Andhra Pradesh Police arrested I Ravi Kiran of Mahabubnagar district in Telangana and Polla Suresh Krishna, an MBA student of Ongole in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh in this connection, CID Additional Director General of Police Ch Dwarka Tirumala Rao said.

According to police, Ravi Kiran created a Facebook page containing political cartoons and posted it on the website on July 30 and 31, while Krishna allegedly posted some "vulgar" comments on the page.

On behalf of K Geetha, YSRCP leader G Koteswara Rao, Mandal Convenor of G K Veedhi Mandal in Visakhapatnam district, filed a complaint and a case was registered by G K Veedhi police, which was subsequently taken over by the CID.

"During further course of investigation, it was found that it was a case of cyber stalking wherein the accused posted photos and cartoons against the Araku Member of Parliament K Geetha on Facebook and many persons passed nasty comments," the CID officer said.

The Cyber Crime Cell of CID worked out the technical aspects and based on the information, the special team was formed to crack the case.

Both the accused were booked under relevant sections of Information Technology Act and 509 of IPC besides under relevant provisions of SC, ST Atrocities(prevention) Act, the CID officer said in a release.
