Murder accused gets 'star treatment' in jail

 The girlfriend of Kanpur businessman, who has been accused of hatching a conspiracy to kill his wife Jyoti, has allegedly been getting a ‘five-star’ treatment in the Kanpur district jail.

Manisha, who is a daughter of a wealthy businessman of Kanpur, was arrested on charges of conspiracy after Jyoti was brutally murdered by her driver on the instruction of her husband Piyush Shivdasani.

Reports said Manisha has been getting her favourite pizza and burgers in the jail – courtesy the jail staff. It also said she gets mineral water while the other inmates use the tap water. Sources said Manisha gets regular supply of home cooked food.

However, jail officials denied reports of Manisha being given ‘VIP’ treatment.

Senior officials have taken cognisance of the reports and have ordered that Manisha should be treated as per the jail manual and should not be extended any special privilege. 

Barely a couple of days ago, a Circle Officer Rakesh Naik was suspended after he was caught on camera hugging Piyush in police station. Naik was also heard consoling Piyush and telling him that he should not worry as people do make mistakes sometimes and that he was a ‘very good boy’.

Meanwhile, the police on Tuesday produced the accused persons in the court and sought their custody remand, which the court granted.

However, police have not yet been able to recover the knife used in the murder.Police had last week arrested Piyush, who, they said, had got Jyoti murdered as he wanted to marry Manisha with whom he was having an affair.

Piyush, son of a leading biscuit firm owner, had got her murdered by his girlfriend’s driver Awadhesh a few days back in a carefully hatched conspiracy.
