Rahul knocks out Raghu in semis

Rahul Bharadwaj ousted top seed Ra­ghu M in the semifinals of the boys’ under-17 category in the Li-Ning Karnataka St­ate Badminton Champion­ships here on Wednesday.

Raghu, who had beaten Rohit Haibatti in the quarters earlier on Wednesday, found Rahul too hot to handle and lost 21-15, 21-7.

Rahul will face second seed Mithun Manjunath, who beat Sai Ali 21-16, 21-9 in the other semifinal, in the final.

In the girls’ under-17 section, tenth seed Shikha Gautam comortably saw off the challenge of Apeksha Nayak 21-9, 21-17, while Mahima Aggarwal edged past Shivani Pathi 21-18, 21-17 in the other last four affair.

In girls’ under-15 section, top seed Ashwini Bhat set up title clash with Deepthi Ramesh.
