Minister for Health & Family Welfare U T Khader, on Wednesday, sought the support of local political leaders to crack the whip on fake doctors.

Inaugurating the two-day National Level Meet of Indian Medicine Board, he said in most cases, local politicians worked hand in glove with fake doctors. He said if they come forward and informed higher authorities, it would be easy to check the menace.

Stating that new biometric registration would be valid across the country, he said “earlier, it was tough time examining certificates doctors carried from other states and practiced here. Now, with introduction of this system, everything will be foolproof.”

He assured Karnataka Ayurvedic and Unani Practitioner’s (KAUP) Board he would appraise the chief minister on their demands.

KAUP Board President Dr Sathyamoorthy Bhatt sought cabinet status for the board be sustained. “RGUHS does not have a representative for Ayurveda graduates. This needs to be done,” he added.

The first smart card to Ayush doctors post biometric registration was unveiled.
