Bystanders looked on admiration as the rally took off a number of cars that had been considered lost to time driving up in all splendour. Mini Coopers and Rolls Royce to the American biggies like Mustangs and Dodges and even popular Indian cars of the yesteryear made their way through the Sunday traffic with the Willyses and the hardy Ambassadors vrooming their way through the City streets.

While taking off in style, some of the grand old vehicles failed to complete the rally. A Mercedes convertible and a Beetle stalled midway causing traffic jams for a brief period in the afternoon. Some others like the Dodge and the Chervolets took wrong turns and ran “off-course” from the designated route.

Organised by the the Karnataka Vintage and Classic Car Club, the rally included some classic bikes too, including Harley Davidson 750, Norton and Jawa.

Over 150 vehicles, incluidng 101 cars and 44 motorcycles participated in the rally, indicative of the the vast collection classic automobiles in the state. The oldest car to take part was a 1909 Wolseley, previously owned by Maharaja of Cooch Behar.
