Varun, who addressed a rally at Khursheed Club ground in Sultanpur, slammed the Uttar Pradesh and the Congress-led UPA governments for “not doing” anything concrete for  youth.

Although Varun,  Pilibhit MP, refrained from taking names, he said people should ask their elected representatives as to what they have done to “end your miseries and plight.”

Sultanpur matters

Varun also announced that he would make Sultanpur, which was nurtured by his father Sanjay Gandhi, his karm-bhoomi. Apparently referring to Amethi, Rahul’s Lok Sabha constituency, and Raebareli, Sonia Gandhi’s constituency, he said the so called “VIP areas” have witnessed very little development.

Varun said the super speciality Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) hospital in Lucknow, named after his father, is not very friendly to the poor people.

In his 40-minute speech, Varun also took a dig at Mayawati government and said that it was only concerned with erecting statues and memorials and was not bothered about the problems of the common people.
