Did you Know?

When the construction was completed in 1941, the Cathedral dedicated to Saint Philomena was sanctified  with the saint’s holy relic. In the early 1930s, Maharaja’s envoy, Thamboo Chetty is said to have received the sacred relic from Peter Pisani, the delegate of East India Company.

Lofty towers, the twin spires seen from locations faraway from the church, are the main attractions of St Philomena Church in Mysore. The spires (175 ft high) are known to resemble the church of Cologne in Germany and St. Patrick Cathedral in New York.

Depicting images about the life of Christ are the paintings seen on stained glass windows up the sanctum. Said to have been designed by a French architect  Daly, Mysore St. Philomena Church is known for its aesthetic design.
