She had been frantically trying to trace her kidnapped daughter and had sought help from two youths of her locality but they, instead of helping her, allegedly gang-raped her after calling her at a primary school.

The shocking incident occurred at Utraula area in Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur district, about 300 kilometres from here on Saturday night. Police sources said one of the culprits has been arrested but the other is still absconding.

Police said the daughter of the 45-year-old had been kidnapped a few days back and she had been trying to trace her. Some locals, however, said her daughter had eloped with her lover.

The woman approached two youths from her locality and sought their help in tracing her daughter.

The youths, identified as Gani and Rashid, assured all help to the distraught mother. They also reportedly told her that they knew the man who had kidnapped her daughter.

Foul play

The youths asked the woman to meet them at a primary school on Saturday and told her that they had information about her daughter. Though it was quite late, yet the woman did not suspect any foul play and reached the school premises which was deserted at that time.

The youths allegedly gang-raped her and warned her against telling anyone about it. They reportedly threatened that they would help the kidnapper of her daughter if she approached police.

The woman, however, lodged a complaint with police.

Police said they had arrested Gani and were now looking for Rashid, who is absconding.
