The 19th annual ‘Freedom Jam’ will be held from August 15 to 17 at various locations in the City. ‘Freedom Jam - Free Music Festival’ is a musician’s movement that started during the nation’s 50th anniversary celebrations in 1996.

The uniqueness of ‘Freedom Jam’ is that artistes perform for free and the audience enjoys the music without any entrance tickets. The idea behind the movement is to promote creativity without commercial constraints.

‘Chronic Blues Circus’, ‘De Sat’, ‘Rainburn’, Alan Rego, Sanjay Deshpande, ‘Kiran K Project’, ‘Friends Band’, ‘Midnight Something’, ‘Flee’, ‘Refugia’, ‘1 Fret Away’, ‘Broken Membrane’, ‘Atharva’, ‘Mind Map’, ‘TBD’, ‘Redempsure’, ‘Prodigal Return’, ‘Steve Axorcist’, ‘Baja’, Andy G etc are just a few of the bands and artistes participating in the festival.

On August 15, the concert at Namma Metro Swami Vivekananda Station, Old Madras Road, will be held from 12 pm to 9 pm. 

A variety of musical styles from Indipop and fusion to rock will be held. At the Metro MG Road Station, Boulevard Rangoli Indoor Auditorium, from  7 pm to 9 pm, there will be classical music recitals. 

On August 16, at GO Desi, phase 1 - Peenya, from 12 pm to 9 pm, there will be a variety of rock, metal and alternative music.

On August 17, at Chaithanya Smaran amphitheatre, Whitefield, from 5 pm to 10 pm, a variety of pop and rock music concerts will be held. At The Green Path, Opposite Mantri Mall, Sampige Road, Malles­waram, from 6 pm to 9 pm, there will be acoustic sessions. 

This music festival is supported by Namma Metro BMRTC, GO Desi, Chaithanya group, the Green Path and Reynolds among others.
