Mahak makes it to semis

Top seed Mahak Jain and second seed Sai Dedeepya advanced into the semifinals of the girls category in the Jain Global Asian Junior Series under-14 tennis tournament here on Wednesday. 

Mahak crushed Adinath Narde 6-0, 6-1 while Dedeepya was streched by Sravya Shivani before prevailing 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4) in the quarterfinals. 

In the boys’ last-eight encounter, unseeded Drumil Thakkar sent fifth seed Drona Walia packing with a 6-2, 6-4 victory.  Also entering the semifinals was second seed Rithvik Choudary B, who bested Abhishek Shukla 7-5, 6-3.  Drumil and Rithvik were joined by Siddharth Thakran and Bikramjeet Singh Chawla in the last four. Results (all quarterfinals): Boys singles: Siddharth Thakran bt Theertha Shashank M 6-4, 6-1; Bikramjeet Singh Chawla bt Kevin Patel 7-5, 7-6(4); Drumil Thakkar bt Drona Walia 6-2, 6-4; Rithvik Choudary B bt Abhishek Shukla 7-5, 6-3.  Doubles: Neel Guard/ Mohammed Atif Sheik bt Aman Ayub Khan & Rahul Jaideep 6-3, 6-1; Nama Heman/ Theertha Shashank M bt Vansh Bhagtani/ Dharmil Shah 6-1, 6-4; Sundar Arvind/ Abhishek Shukla bt Kevin Patel/ Kaivalya Raval 6-3, 6-3; Rithvik Choudary B/ Varun Vaiko bt Arvind Kalyan & Chirag Srinath 6-0, 6-0.  Girls singles: Mahak Jain bt Adinath Narde C 6-0, 6-1; Prinkle Singh bt Muskaan Ranjan 6-1, 6-4; Humera Begum Shaik bt Krithika Chhabra 6-3, 6-3; Sai Dedeepya Y bt Sravya Shivani C 7-6(3), 7-6(4).
