Seminar on Indian marine fisheries today

Informing this at a press meet here on Monday, the College Dean Dr Y Basavaraju said a global alumni meet of the COFAA members will also be held on the occasion.

The seminar will be inaugurated by District-in-Charge Minister J Krishna Palemar at 9.30 am. Mangalore Special Economic Zone Chief Operating Officer A G Pai, Director of Works at MCF K Prabhakar Rao, KVAFSU members Monappa Karkera and H T Mohan Kumar will be the guests. The university Vice- Chancellor Dr Suresh S Honnappagol will preside, he informed.

There will be a national meet of professional fisheries graduates forum (PFGF) in the afternoon, where awards such as Best Scientist, Best Student and Best Overseas Scientist will be conferred. Maharashtra Animal and Fisheries Sciences University VC Dr A S Ninawe and KVAFSU VC Suresh Honnappagol will take part.

The event will also mark the global meet of COFAA that came into existence in 1980. The theme of the meet will be “the role of alumni in institution building”.

Former Minister for Education G Parameshwar will iangurate the meet.
