Govt is committed to provide social justice to all: Jain

9 cr has been sanctioned for promoting tourism in Sringeri and Balehonnur'

The State government is committed to provide social justice to all sections of the society. Development works will be initiated for the integrated development of the district, said District-in-Charge Minister K Abhaychandra Jain.

Speaking at  68th Independence Day celebrations at Netaji Subhashchandra Bose district stadium in Chikmagalur on Friday, he said that district administration has ensured that there was no shortage of seeds andfertilisers.

The government has released Rs 15 crore to complete Karagada irrigation project. The work has been accelerated. The burning issue of encroachment will be solved amicably.

The work on supplying water from Bhadra river to Kadur and Birur towns have been completed. Water was supplied on an experimental basis to Kadur and Birur, the minister said.

Under Mahatnma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), employment has been offered to 13,627 households. About Rs 1184 lakh has been utilised. Bonds have been distributed to 32,998 beneficiaries under Bhagyalakshmi scheme. Monthly honorarium has been paid to 585 beneficiaries.

Rs nine crore has been sanctioned for promoting tourism in Sringeri and Balehonnur. The sanctuaries and tourist spots will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 49.5 crore.

Basavanahalli MLA Model Government Higher Primary School Seva Dal won best turn out award. In the parade, Asha Kirana School for Blind won first place followed by IDSG College NCC team (II) and University NCC (III).

Highest scorers in SSLC were felicitated.
