It was an adventurous salute to the freedom fighters on the occasion of Independence Day. Over 1,000 bikers rallied to Nandi Hills and hoisted the National Flag.

The event, Sixth Annual Independence Day Ride, by the Bangalore RD350 Club and Bikers of India, saw bikers from 25 clubs come together, to mark the day. They began their journey at 6 am, reached Nandi Hills at 7.30 am and hoisted the Tricolour at 8 am.

The motley group comprising youths and elderly was brimming with enthusiasm during its journey to salute the nation’s freedom fighters.

“We ride to Nandi Hills each year as a mark of respect to all those who lost their lives fighting for our freedom. This is our way of saluting those who laid down their lives,” said Vishal Agarwal, founder, Bangalore RD350 Club.

The event featured bikes like Yamaha RD350, Royal Enfield Bullet, KTM, Pulsar, Scooter, FZ, Yamaha R15, sports bikes like Yamaha R1, Haya Busa and Suzuki GXR.

“As part of the event, we initiate a campaign every year to promote safe riding among young bikers who often get influenced by speed and resort to rash riding,” said Anil Babu M, Administration Head, Bikers Of India Club.
