Bangalore Int'l Short Film Festival from Friday

The Suchitra Film Society will host the fourth Bangalore International Short Film Festival from August 22 to 24 with an aim to promote budding film makers and give them a platform to experiment, learn and showcase their talent.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, film and theatre personality Prakash Belawadi said that over 200 films in 65 languages would be screened, of which 30 per cent films were made by women film makers.

Over 500 short films were submitted for screening from 50 countries in six continents. The festival will include international competition and non-competition as well as best short films from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), Interfilm (Berlinale, Germany), Swiss Nex Films and various Indian film producers.

Belawadi further said that Kannada short films would be screened at a special section called ‘Karnataka Korner’ that would also include films from other Indian languages. This apart, there will be seminars and workshops on film making. Film director Rakshit Shetty will take up case studies from his Kannada films, and Jamie De Silva will conduct live recording session.

Registration is open for the festival. Entry fee for non-students is Rs 300 and for students it’s Rs 200, Belawadi said.
