When I was small, I used to talk a lot. I have grown up now but I am still a chatterbox,” says child-actor Ashnoor Kaur in all innocence making Metrolife smile.

.
The 10-year old girl started her television career when she was five. Having portrayed a number of serious characters onscreen till date, she chats with Metrolife with her characteristic cuteness.

“My father was transferred to Mumbai when I was four-year-old and somebody referred my name for a serial. When I got selected, I was very excited. You know even in the emotional scenes while shooting Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha, I used to cry naturally. I never use glycerine,” she says trying to make a serious point disarming all with her childlike chatter.

She says she never planned to get into acting, but now that she has, she will continue and wants to become an actor when she grows up. But first comes her studies for which she is ever-ready. “I have my exams from September 6th and I am all set!”

Brimming with energy, she laughs mentioning that “Director Sir calls me ‘Chhotu’ on set” and re-emphasises “I have grown up, but only physically. Take for instance, her recent performance as Najma, the protagonist in the show Tum Saath Ho Jab Apne on Sony PAL. “I play a girl who has lost her father.

Her father was a badminton player and she too wants to become one. But belonging to a Muslim family, she faces restrictions. Meanwhile, she realises that she has better skills to play tennis. Thanks to the serial, I get to learn two new games,” she says excitedly as one listens to her attentively.

Her talk doesn’t end as she starts mentioning about her favourite actor “Salman Khan” and favourite actresses “Deepika and Madhuri Dixit”.

She has met all of them and narrates the experience with mirth. “When I met Salman Khan he pointed at me being so ‘small’,” she giggles and adds, “Meeting Madhuri was pure luck. I had gone to a salon for a hair treatment and she came there too. It was a big surprise for me.”

While one would think that she is an avid viewer of TV serials herself, she negates saying, “I watch only cartoons and princess movies on TV. But I watch my serials, not the other ones.” Well, what does one say to that?
