The Chief Minister is expanding the cabinet for the sixth time since he came to power in May 2008.

Two-time MLA has been identified with the BJP rebel camp, which questioned the leadership of Yeddyurappa. He has been an aspirant for a cabinet berth since the time the BJP government came to power.

He was appointed as chairman of Hutti Gold Mines. However, he continued to criticise the functioning of ex-minister Shobha Karandlaje and senior IAS officer V P Baligar, who was the principal secretary.

A section of MLAs representing Bangalore City have decided not to take part in the oath taking ceremony as well as the Legislative Assembly session on that day as a mark of protest against Renukacharya’s induction into the cabinet.

Bommanahalli MLA Satish Reddy said he and a few other MLAs had shared their disappointment with the Chief Minister about Renukacharya’s induction into the cabinet.

Due respect to CM

“ We accept the Chief Minister’s decision, as a mark of respect towards him.  We are not questioning his selection. However, we are not attending the oath taking ceremony and the session, as an expression of our disappointment,” he said.

Other MLAs who have decided to keep away from the ceremony are S R Vishwanath, Nandish Reddy and a few others. However, Renukacharya is confident of the participation of all the City MLAs at the ceremony. “I have personally invited all the City MLAs and they have assured me of their attendance. I do not want to comment on statements made by a few,” he said.

He said that he would be addressing a public rally at Palace Grounds after the completion of the oath taking ceremony.
