Tejaswi had responded to contemporary issues in his work, notes SP

District Superintendent of Police, Chethan has said that K P Poornachandra Tejaswi was one of the litterateur who scintillated the conscience of people through his works. His works reflect progressive thinking.

He was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of K P Poonachandra Thejaswi Biodiversity Research Centre on the premises of Vismaya Pratishtana at Kottigehara in Mudigere on Monday.

The SP said that Tejaswi had responded to several contemporary issues, which was a part of transformation in Kannada literature. Tejaswi had felt for a need to introduce Unicode in Kannada, by realising that the adoption of technology is necessary for the development of the language.

MLA B B Ningaiah said the writings of Poornachandra Tejaswi have been inspired from the nature of Malnad. He was sensitive to the problems of agriculturists and had played a significant role in bringing an open market for coffee, he said. The bio diversity research centre established after  him should become a role model in research field.

MLC Motamma said that Poornachandra Tejaswi was known for his progressive thinking and concern for nature and language. The research centre should be instrumental in fulfilling his dreams. The purpose of the centre will be met when common people are be informed about the rarest insects and plants, through the research work taken up by the centre. 

Litterateur Rajeshwari Thejaswi said through the centre, the tourists should be able to get information on the nature of the region. The message of Kuvempu should reach the younger generation, through the centre, she added.

Deputy Commissioner B S Shekharappa said that  two acre of land and Rs one crore  has been released to the research centre and efforts will be made to get additional grants to the centre.

K P Poornachandra Tejaswi biodiversity Research Centre Founder Director Gangaih Heggade, Vismaya Pratishtana office bearer C D Vinaykumar, Kenjige Pradeep among others were present.
