Students demand basic facilities at government PU college

Classes being conducted for 2,600 students in 21 rooms

The students said there are only 21 classrooms in the college with a strength of more than 2,600 students. As a result, 130 students are forced to sit in a single room. The number of classrooms are not proprotionate to the students’ strength, Apart from this, the college has been facing shortage of teaching faculty. The college has only 30 lecturers as against the requirement of 45, the protesters alleged.

Laboratory

Shortage of laboratory facility has been hampering practical classes. Tolilets are not fit for use as a result of which students and faculty are put into trouble, they enlisted.

Accusing the elected representatives and the authorities concerned of not taking serious note of shortages at the government run educational instution, the students demanded construction of ten additional classrooms and to take steps for appointmet of  lecturers to fill the Pointing out that there were more number of girls, the protesters emphasised the need to establish a women’s pre-university college in the City The students earlier took a procession  up to the office of the Assistant Commissioner and submitted a memorandum..
