GP member shot at

Waderahalli Jayaram (45), who sustained injuries on his cheek and mouth, was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Bangalore. He is stated to be out of danger.
Jayaram was on his way to Bangalore in his car around 4 pm. Five people in a car and three others on a bike were waiting for him on NH 4.

As soon as Jayaram’s car entered the highway, they followed him. They first rammed their car against Jayaram’s car. When Jayaram got down, the three accused opened fire at him.

One of the bullets passed through Jayaram’s cheeks. He collapsed screaming for help. A few people immediately rushed him to a private hospital in Bangalore.

Jayaram was into real estate business and was slowly making progress in local politics. Police suspect that his business rivals or political rivals might have carried out the act.

Painter murdered

A 26-year-old painter's body, with his face smashed using boulders was found on Nice Road near Gottegere in Bannerghatta police limits on Wednesday late night.

Vijay Kumar, the deceased was a resident of Ragigudda. The police suspect that more than four persons involvement is evident in the crime and it might have taken place around 10.40 pm.

Vijay was heading home on his two-wheeler.

Worker slips to death

A construction worker who sustained injuries when he slipped and fell at a building under construction near Uma theatre in Kempegowda Nagar died of his injuries on Thursday.
Netaji Biswas (26) of West Bengal fell while shifting scaffolding materials to the top floor. He was shifted to the hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

Man held with opium

The Police on Wednesday arrested a 48 year-old man and recovered 11 kg opium worth Rs 5.50 lakh from him at the City Market Bus Stand. According to the police, Kookram of Bommanahalli used to procure raw opium from Rajasthan and add sugar to it at his house before selling it to the public.

Bike lifters arrested

The Vijayanagar police have arrested two persons and recovered 11 stolen motorcycles, worth Rs four lakh from them.

Mehboob alias Ajay (23) of Subbanna Garden, Vijayanagar and Syed Akram (33) of Bharathinagar had allegedly stolen bikes parked in front of houses in Chandra Layout, Girinagar, Byatarayanapura and Kamakshipalya police station limits.

They would later change the nameplates and sell them. Mehboob was earlier involved in several cases in Vijayanagar police station limits.
