The State Women’s Commission is planning to hold adalats in two districts every month to receive complaints from aggrieved women, said Chairperson of the Commission Manjula Manasa here on Thursday.

Addressing the media, she said that women who have been subject to harassment, will be encouraged to register their complaints.

Steps will also be taken to dispose long-pending cases during the adalat, she said, adding that the Commission will also organise several programmes at its Dasara stall, set up at the Exhibition Grounds in the City.

Weekly discussions and seminars will be held every Sunday from October 12 to November 30 to come out with measures to bring down cases of harassment against women, the chairperson said.

Documentaries

She said that documentaries based on women’s issues will also be screened at the stall.  Raising concerns that women still continue to suffer harassment in silence, she said that women could approach the department of Women and Child Development at the district level and Child Development Project Officer at taluk level or Asha workers at grama panchayat level, in case of harassment.
