<p>Tension prevailed in Khanapur town in the district on Wednesday following a group clash over closure of an allegedly unauthorised slaughterhouse.<br /><br /></p>.<p>An activist of a pro-Hindu group reportedly raised objection over the functioning of the abattoir. The irked members of another group thrashed him and he sustained grievous injuries.<br /><br />As the news of the assault incident spread, members of pro-Hindu group staged a flash protest in the town demanding the arrest of the attackers. They also staged a protest at Shiv Smarak Circle. A few miscreants took advantage of the situation and went on a rampage, throwing stones. Two vehicles were damaged.<br /><br />Additional Superintendent of Police Nyamagouda said a group of people took objection when a person was clicking photographs of women. They thrashed the man and this led to tension.<br />However, the assaulted person claimed that he was taking the picture of the slaughterhouse. Police have detained two persons in this connection.</p>
