Zilla Panchayat member Jagannath, inaugurating the camp, lauded the efforts of organisers in conducting a health camp with the sole objective of rendering social service. He said that the working class, particularly farmers and labourers, in addition to their daily grind, should give attention to their health also. He called upon the public to take advantage of the health camps organised by various organisations. “Doctors, who play vital role in the health of the patients, apart from adhering to professional ethics and maintaining quality, should also imbibe human values,” he opined.

Dr G B Nagaraj of M S Ramaiah Narayana Hrudayalaya, who spoke on the occasion said that cases of cardiac problems were surfacing more in Bangladesh, Australia, Pakistan apart from India.

“Heart problems are being manifested through genes in India. Studies have established that one in five are suffering from heart-related problems,” he divulged.

Enlisting the precautions to pre-empt cardiac problems, he said that every person above the age of 30 should get his health examined by a doctor. He suggested quitting smoking and avoiding too much mental pressure could ward off cardiac problems.

Operation, if found necessary, will be carried at Narayana Hrudayalaya at concessional rates, and free of cost for members of Yashaswini scheme, he said.

A team of ten doctors of M S Ramaiah Narayana Hrudayalaya examined the patients at the camp.

The camp was organised by M S Ramaiah Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore, Manchenahalli Development Forum, Citizens Welfare Forum, Primary Health Centre, Taluk Working Journalists Association, Chemists and Druggists Association and Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Narayanagowda faction).
