As the world is all set to welcome the new year, celebrations are also reaching a new high. People are chalking out their plans for New Year’s eve and looking out for the best location to hang out. Lounges, pubs and many other venues are decking up to attract revellers.

The most popular hangouts on New Year’s eve are Brigade Road, M G Road and the UB City. The busy stretch of Brigade Road is already lit up with coloured lights. S R Anoop, who has just completed his studies, usually strolls into ‘Anubhav’, a lounge on Hesaraghatta Road, to usher in the new year. This year he has plans to hit Brigade Road and M G Road along with his friends.

“Brigade Road and MG Road are the ideal venues to catch hold of the New Year buzz. Moreover, these places also houses some of the finest pubs and lounges. UB City is another crowd-puller with its various restaurants. One can get a feel of the Western-style celebrations here,” says Anoop.

In recent years, Gandhi Bazaar and Jayanagar 4th Block in Bangalore South have also emerged as popular hubs for the celebrations. Places like ‘Gufa’, ‘Cool Joint’, ‘Ice Thunder’ host special dinner and other delicacies served, the streets will be well decorated with lights. These places are ideal for moderate celebrations.

Sumanth V, an engineering student from PESIT, would have gone clubbing if his exams were not scheduled to happen during the New Year time. However, he is going for a simple celebration at Gandhi Bazaar. “Every year I enjoy the eve with my friends. But this year, I shall limit my celebration to Gandhi Bazaar. This local market accommodates all kinds of people starting from children to elders and is best for family outing,” says Sumanth.

The residents of Indiranagar, Frazer Town and Old Airport Road mark the day with a grand note. Addanki Rajanikanth, a techie from Padmanabha Nagar, will be celebrating the eve in and around Indiranagar. “Indiranagar has many wonderful locations to hang out and New Year celebration passes off well in that part of the City. Multi-cuisine restaurants and lounges bustle with young crowd during the night. I splurge on that day by taking out my parents and friends for dinner and bursting crackers at the stroke of midnight,” says Rajanikanth.
