Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) president Anurag Thakur on Friday said Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) should consider isolating the West Indies after  their pull out from the ongoing India tour.

"The BCCI was informed by the West Indies Cricket Board somewhere around 7 in the morning by the WICB (WICB). Many BCCI officials as well as the local staff travelling with the board tried to convince them but they were adamant on not playing," Thakur told reporters.
"I personally went up to the players in order to talk them into not pulling out and fortunately succeeded in my quest," he remarked.

Thakur, who is also the BCCI joint-secretary, listed out the measures the board should be taking against the West Indies. "First, the BCCI should file a complaint with the ICC about the behaviour of players and the West Indies board. Second, in order to have successful future tours,

“BCCI should not play with the Windies. Third, they should also file a claim for compensation with the WICB - the amount of revenue they are going to lose.

“And fourth, not only the BCCI, but also the local associations, those that have spent truckloads of money to get everything in place should take necessary actions.

“I think the BCCI should consider isolating themselves from the West Indies and the IPL franchise should rethink about extending the West Indies’ players’ contracts,” he fumed.

Thakur said while he empathised with the West Indies players, he did not appreciated their attitude.

"They could have made up their mind before coming to India.”
