Rebuked by spouse, tailor hangs self

 A 25-year-old tailor, allegedly upset by his wife’s rebuke over his drinking habits, hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his Nayandanahalli residence here on Sunday night.

 Rajesh returned home inebriated around 10 pm when his wife Jyothi took him to task for his habit. Upset by the reprimand, he left home only to return later and shut himself in a room. He was later found hanging from the ceiling fan.

A native of Ramanagaram, Ramesh had married Jyothi of Mandya two years ago after a love affair. The body was handed over to his parents after post mortem. Chandra Layout police have registered a case.

Chains snatched
Two women were relieved of their gold chains in separate incidents in the City on Monday.  Shashikala of Koramangala First Block, was on her way to a temple for Vaikunta Ekadashi pooja at 6.30 am, when two youths on a bike snatched away her gold chain weighing 60 gm and sped away.

In the other incident, three unidentified persons on a bike snatched away a 40 gm gold chain from a 50-year-old woman who was returning home after purchasing milk in Madivala at around 8.15 am.

 In her complaint, Shanta Manjunath, a resident of SBI Layout near Kolichikkanahalli said an unidentified person snatched her chain and sped away with two others on a bike. A case has been registered.

Temple burgled
Thieves struck at a temple and made away with valuables kept in the locker in Vasanthnagar here on Sunday night. Five kilograms of silver armour and around Rs 3,000 cash were stolen by breaking open the locker of the Sampangiramadevara temple. High Grounds police have registered a case.

Held for thefts
Police have recovered stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 1.05 lakh by arresting a person in Kumaraswamy Layout. Fayyaz Pasha (28) of Hegde Nagar, Yelahanka had allegedly struck at houses and made away with valuables.
He was also reportedly involved in a theft case reported in Subramanyapur police station limits.
