Leaders recall Bangarappa's contribution to society

Senior Congress leaders recalled the contribution of former chief minister S Bangarappa to society and said his ideals were relevant even today.

Speaking on the 82nd birth anniversary of Bangarappa, organised by Sri S Bangarappa Vichara Vedike here on Monday, Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa said there was a need to have a bold leader like Bangarappa in today’s politics to face any kind of hurdle and look ahead towards progress.

He said today’s politicians lacked focus, causing confusion and problems in administration. Energy Minister D K Shivakumar and former Union minister C M Ibrahim called upon the late leader’s sons Madhu Bangarappa and Kumar Bangarappa to work together for the development of the people of Shimoga.

Writer Go Ru Channabasappa, musician Thamburi Javarayya and Kabaddi player Mamatha Poojary were felicitated with a purse of Rs one lakh each.
