LPG for all households in DK Rai

Colourful marchpast, cultural programmes mark Rajyotsava celebrations in ;DK

On the occasion of 59th Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations on Saturday, District-in-Charge Minister B Ramanath Rai announced of extending the programme of LPG for all households to the entire district on the lines of Mangalore.

Delivering Kannada Rajyotsava address after hoisting the flag at Nehru Maidan, Rai said that the programme to make Mangalore City Corporation and Ullal TMC as ‘kerosene-free’ by providing LPG connection to all households is under progress. “The process is going in a full speed and extend the programme to entire Dakshina Kannada in the days to come,” he said.

The long pending dream of Ranga Mandira in Mangalore too would be realised as a blueprint for the project estimated at Rs 24 crore is ready. The land has been identified for the project in Bondel. The project is yet to get an administrative approval and the process is under way.

The work on Mini Vidhana Sowdha in Puttur taluk has been completed and the work in Bantwal and Belthangady will commence soon. Under 94 C, as many as 40,602 applications have been received and the deserving will be allotted sites.

On Endosulfan rehabilitation package, the Minister said that the government has so far released Rs 4.41 crore. The monthly pension has been distributed to 2,555 Endosulfan victims.

M’lore is Mangaluru now

The district-in-charge minister officially declared that Mangalore will be henceforth called as Mangaluru. He along with other dignitaries, flew a bunch of balloons carrying a nameplate ‘Mangaluru’ to make the official announcement.

Festive fervour

Like usual, Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with gaiety and enthusiasm in Mangalore. A procession was carried out from Jyothi Circle to Nehru Maidan with several cultural troops performing, prior to the formal programme. The district-in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai received the guard of honour and 14 teams including the police, home guards, Scouts, Guides, Bharath Sevadal, Road safety patrol participated in the attractive parade. 

As many as 30 achievers in various fields were conferred District Kannada Rajyotsava award on the occasion. Two government schools from Belthangady taluk were given an incentive for securing cent per cent result in the last SSLC examination and four students were felicitated for their talent in respective fields.

As an add on, Fire Service department demonstrated dousing of fire during emergency through Bronto Skylift Aerial Ladder and bike mounted with water mist technology.
